Winter Palace
Ball |

|

On February
13th, 2009, more than 400 guests and supporters attended
the 8th hugely successful Winter Palace Ball at the
historic Old Mill. Welcomed by the Hussar's Sword
Bridge and Champagne Reception, guests enjoyed an
elegant dinner followed by a keynote speech by Mr.
Michael Ignatieff, a stunning performance by Anya
Goncharova and Terence Cheng, and dancing to the Steve
Mitchell Orchestra until the early hours. This year, the
camp
fundraiser raised an unprecedented
$17,000 directly in support of Ruskoka
Camp. A heartfelt thank you to our sponsors:
OMNI, TD Canada Trust, Bank of Montreal, Brunello Wines,
Ethnic Channels, Russian Waves, Russian TV Guide and
Photohighway.ca, to the numerous donors,
advertisers, volunteers and to our supporters that
attended.

Ruskoka Camp is running two
sessions again
this summer. Session #1 is open to
children aged 12 to 17, from July 26 to August 1,
2009, and costs $250
(before July 1st). Session #2 is for campers 10 to
16, and runs from August 2 to August 15, for $500
(before July 1st). This year, registration
has started earlier than usual. We already
have 66 campers
registered for Session
#2, and expect to be fully booked with 70 kids in the next week. If
you are
planning to come or to send your child this summer,
please do not delay in order to avoid disappointment, as
there are only a couple
of spaces left. Please call
and register TODAY.
If
you are interested in volunteering, either before or
during camp, please e-mail Alik
or call 416 232
0829. Whatever your skill or talent, we will find
a job for you! We
particularly need volunteer help in the camp kitchen. If
you like to cook, please come for a week to help prepare
delicious meals for the camp children.
If you can come to help as a
senior counselor, or
work as a lifeguard, please ask Alik about the
scholarships available. Help at camp, have
fun, spend the
summer with friends, and earn some money towards
your post-secondary tuition.
