Winter Palace Ball

Thank you for joining us on Feb. 2nd at the The Winter Palace Ball

This 6th annual Ruskoka fundraiser was a huge success. An unforgettable evening of dining, dancing and elegance! Close to 300 guests danced the night away to the music of Steve Mitchell's Orchestra in the glamorous King's Garden Ballroom. Over 100 of those guests were our Russian молодёжь, who continued dancing until 2am. With your help and support, the dedicated efforts of the ball organizing committee, and words of encouragement from the Honourable Michael Ignatieff, the ball raised $13,000 for the camp. Please mark February 22, 2008 in your calendars for the Winter Palace Ball next year.

March Winter Weekend

Every winter, volunteers and kids spend a wonderful weekend in the snow at Ruskoka. We'll head up again on March 17-18, 2007 for winter recreation, tobogganing, hiking, a bit of work, good Lenten food and a Reader’s Service. This year we expect an unusually large amount of snow. There are only a limited number of spaces so please advise us early if you want to go! Contact Alik at 416-232-0829.

Spring is around the corner

Do you miss Ruskoka? The sound of the river, the fresh Muskoka air, the friendly atmosphere, and the strenuous weekends of hard work? Ruskoka’s famous work weekends are just two moths away! The first work weekend of the season is scheduled for May 12, 2007. Check the www.ruskoka.com website for updates and more information. This spring, our work will focus on a massive renovation of the camp kitchen, re-building the interior of the yellow “sports” trailer, completeing the chapel exterior, and starting construction of the camp bathroom. Eager, enthusiastic, and skilled volunteers are always needed. Join us for a fun and fulfilling weekend. Contact Alik at 416-232-0829 if you are interested in helping out.

Follow the leaders

Our camp leaders and counselors are the foundation of our Russian camps, today and tomorrow. Our counselors are a rare breed of dedicated, caring, hard working volunteers, who give up their summers to lead, motivate and inspire our children.

The second annual Leadership Workshop, jointly organized by ORPR Camp and Ruskoka Camp, will be held this spring in Chicago from June 29 to July 2, 2007. Join in the learning, leadership and laughter. Ruskoka Camp is arranging transportation, accommodations and meals, including all workshop materials for only $75. Only 8 spaces are left. If you are interested, call Alik at 416 232 0829.

Summer Camp Registration

Ruskoka Camp registration has started earlier than usual. So far, we have fully registered 20 new campers! We expect to be fully booked by June. If you plan to come to camp, register today.

If you are interested in volunteering, either before or during camp, please e-mail Luba or call 905 476 9579. Whatever your skill or talent, we will find a job for you!

The Ruskoka Prayers, read and sung every morning and evening at camp, are now posted on the Events-Camp webpage. The Ruskoka Anthem and the new Camp 2007 Registration Form are also posted there.

Don’t be disappointed, register early!
